Embarking on a new web site or hiring a web design company to "reinvent" a new look for an existing site can be a daunting task. There are many variables to take into consideration when planning for a web site. We would like to share with you some questions that we have been asked over the years and most importantly, our answers.

1. I have a small business, should I have a web site?

Whether you work from your home or from an office tower in a major city centre, any business of any size will greatly benefit from a web site. Web sites have become a very important marketing tool in today's world. There are many benefits to having a web site, but the most obvious one is the exposure your business will gain 24/7, 365 days/year, once your web site makes its debut on the world wide web.

2. What information do I need to have in order to put together my website?

At Virtual Office Support during our initial consultation we discuss all the information that we will need in order to complete your web project. Typically, we ask for any corporate artwork, such as existing logos, product photos and other related photos for use on the web site and the content. Once we have these items, we get set to design taking into account the existing corporate colour scheme and apply it to our web template.

3. I have not selected a domain name for my web site. How do I do this?

Choosing a domain name is an important decision. Compounding that decision is the choice of which extension to select (.com, .ca, .org or .net as examples) The best advice is to pick a domain name that reflects your business. The simplest approach is to pick your business name. In our case, we selected www.virtualoffice.ca Picking the extension .ca was important to us as we are a Canadian company and the .ca signifies to internet users that we are Canadian based. In most cases, we would recommend to our clients to search the name availability with a .com extension. A .com extension is highly recognized internationally. If your domain name is available with this extension then grab it! At Virtual Office Support, we can guide you through this process and will gladly undertake to do this on your behalf.

4. Who will host my web site?

There are many hosting companies competing for your business. Over the years, we have formed relationships with several large hosting companies and as such have the resources to find the right hosting package for you. While we do not host sites at Virtual Office Support, you can be assured that we will provide you with all the information you need to make the right choice.

5. Once my site is up and running who will attend to the changes and how quickly will changes be effected?

Virtual Office Support is pleased to offer to our clients on-going maintenance support. Our maintenance services are available at an hourly rate. All we ask is that you provide us with instructions via fax or e-mail as to the changes and we will see that they are completed within 48 hours. If the changes are time-sensitive, let us know and we will do our best to meet your deadline.
